Our Mission
We aim to give businesses a competitive advantage and sustainability edge by enabling them to make a seamless transition to single-use plastic alternatives that consumers are demanding.
Cronulla has some of Sydney’s most beautiful beaches, which are enjoyed by Sutherland Shire residents and many out of town visitors. Beach goers support many of the wonderful café’s, retail shops, and other local businesses in the area. It is the responsibility of the entire community to ensure that our beaches and waterways are clean and healthy for future generations to enjoy.
Being a ‘Plastic Free’ business centre will involve some small changes for businesses. However, by making those changes collectively as a community, we can not only ensure the future health of our beaches but also drive new customers to Cronulla and Sutherland Shire businesses.
‘PLASTIC FREE CHAMPIONS’
For businesses that switch out the five single-use plastic sources that contribute to majority of plastic litter and ocean debris with plastic free, and where possible biodegradable alternatives - we will accredit the business as a ‘Plastic Free Champion’.
Those items are:
Plastic straws
Plastic shopping bags
Plastic cutlery
Plastic cups
Plastic takeaway containers
